I haven't posted in a few days as I've been too busy working!

The walkway texture is complete for now. I'm still willing to change it if we decide its necessary.

The walkway area in our style isn't weather worn or rusty, It was quite hard to make it look nice without slapping a tiling rust texture onto it. I've given it some scratches and dirt, enough to fit with our initial idea.

We will have to do some decals to go on the glass brick floor of the walkway, as that is looking a bit too clean atm.

This is an unlit view, I will post again when I have lit it properly.

I have moved the walls in the level slightly,as there was the slightest bit of intersecting that wasn't worth creating a new walkway mesh for. I have also moved little bits of walkway that lead up to the doors on the side, and I've moved those doors too (only a little bit).

Everything fits snuggly together now.

Bathroom screenys...








Here is how the bathroom is going, I will post up the lounge are later.

List of Bathroom related things:

Alpha feathering - to do with a setting in unreal, the alphas don't look to hot atm.
Showers - need to be finished asap, i have seen no sign of them!
Compile stray upks - Anything thats completed that hasn't yet been put in
Complete remaining assets - Broken Tiles, Extractor, Overflow planes ( the most important ones)
Lighting - Check out the lighting to make sure its dandy
Final check - check it all fits the style guide and everything is to scale, and we like how it looks.

Then the bathroom will be all done! :D

Food dispensers

I'm doing food dispensers with lights. There will be 8 of them along the wall each with a number next to it. I have made three different variations, open, half open and closed. I hope this is ok with everyone, I felt there wasn’t time to waste waiting for peoples opinions so I went ahead and built them, just about to start texturing.

Three Pieces...

Here are the three walkway pieces together, I had to shorten the bench down in order to fit the big horsey statues on , it fits nicely into the blockout.

I still have a bit of uving n stuff left to do, but after that I will leave the walkway till I have time in the week, or till next weekend. Gots to keep to schedule!

Dining Area...

Tomorrow we work on the dining area, unfortunately the lab is closed so we will have to work from home. I've given myself something simple as I still have a few bits to finish off from last week. If you are going to make something post up straight away , or someone else might do it!If anyone has anything they want to add to the list let us know.

Walkway plans...

This is a screengrab of the Max blockout with the 'Perfectly average pieces' in place. I took a bit of time to make sure they were an appropriate length, so all the other pieces will fit in correctly.


I have broken it down into three pieces, the other two shouldn't take long now I've got the basic piece done.

The lil' horseys will be a seperate mesh, so we can add in other stuffs we want onto the walkway pieces.

That long pink line is where the Big horsey will go, and the ball in front of it is where a spotlight will be mounted.

All the others will have lil' horseys on them. The red line shows where the strips of lighting will be, shining up at the lil' horseys.


Here is a screeny from below. I wanted to add alot more funkyness to the whole thing, and I messed around for a while adding in cool bits, but in the end simpler was better.


I plan to have all the bits made and mostly textured but tomorrow night, I haven't been working as solidly since the lab is shut, but I will get back on track tomorrow hopefully! (not that the lab is open tomorow, just that I think I should focus a bit more)

But, for now I'm going to kick back, eat some chilli and play some games...

Walkway weekend!

I'm making the walkway from scratch this weekend. My first attempt was so bad that I left it for a while, but now im more in tune with the project I think i will be able to do it alot better. I spent most of my day trying to locate a sculpting program to use so I haven't got far.

Hardest part first, I'm starting with the lil' horsey heads, I've based it on this one, but I want to make it more of a brassy coloured metal.Here is how the high poly is going, I'm doing the hair separately. I plan on building the low poly after, then baking the normals. This is the first time I've ever used Zbrush, its a little hard to get to grips with, but after a while i got the hang, and its sort of therapeutic, I'll have to use it more often.

Ok so I wasn't happy with my end result last night so I re-did the uv's and textures. Here it is in a version of the level I have. The horse is 1686 tris and with the poles it totals 1900 tris.

Bins

I got really frustrated at the beds so I decided to do the bins today (3 of them!).

I thought that the bins that are already around the queen's building seem a little too fancy to be down with us in-mates, so I made your basic metal can...filthied up and broken of course!

Progress...

This is how we are getting on with the mini-lists. Some stuff we did on Monday wasn't on these lists, so more has been done than this. Anyway I'm going to work on the coffee table and chair today. And me and Soph are going to do some magazines and photos and things. The aim is to get all this done by Thursday night, then i can import it all on Friday when the lab is closed. I'm too tired after getting in from the lab to do it in the evening.
